Barcelona president Sandro Rosell has blamed the signing of Zlatan Ibrahimovic from Inter Milan on their financial problems.
The Swede is now starring with AC Milan.
But Rosell explained: "In emergency, (Dmytro) Chygrynskiy was sold. We needed to pay wages to players. We had to ask for a syndicated loan and had no money in the coffers.
"Ibrahimovic was the worst operation in history. We lost a lot of money.
"The board decided to offload him so causing us to risk our heritage for two more years."
