Barcelona are expected to make a swoop for Valencia fullback Jordi Alba in the coming weeks.
Maxwell's sale to PSG is set to clear the way for Barca to sign Alba, says El Mundo Deportivo.
Alba is tied to Valencia until 2013 and has baulked at their attempts to secure him to a new four-year deal.
The 22 year-old's agent, Josep Maria Orobitg, is well aware of Barca's interest, though has also received enquiries from Manchester United and Liverpool about his client this season.
