Chelsea fullback Ashley Cole insists they can compete withBarcelona in the Champions League under new manager Andre Villas-Boas.
Chelsea were runners-up toManchester United and also knocked out of the Champions League by Alex Ferguson's men.
But Cole is adamant Chelsea will rise again under Villas-Boas.
He told The Sun: "I don't think we're becoming detached from United and Barca are beatable. I went to the Champions League final and thought United could win.
"The way Barca played was unbelievable, like a machine, and you can see why people think they're unbeatable.
"But we should have beaten them in the semis two years ago when we had three penalties turned down.
"I still believe if we'd won at Old Trafford a couple of weeks before the end of last season we would have won the league.
"Personally, I'd rather win the league every year than the Champions League."
