Barcelona has received some positive news on the injury front as experienced defender Carles Puyol could be back in action in three weeks time.

"Puyol will be playing again within three weeks. I expect him back in action halfway through September and he'll soon be in good form again," Cugat was quoted as saying by Esports COPE.

The 33-year-old center-back underwent surgery on a recurring knee problem back in June and has since been working on his recovery.

Puyol missed both legs of the 5-4 Spanish Supercopa win over Real Madrid due to his recuperation schedule, but doctor Ramon Cugat, who performed the surgery on the Spain international, thinks he will soon return to the pitch.

"The surgery won't have any long-term consequences. Puyol is here to stay. He still has one, two and perhaps even three more seasons to go."
