Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho is not going to apologize for his involvement in the brawl during the Supercopa second-leg against Barcelona, his spokesman Eladio Parames has said.

"Jose will not say sorry and he is determined to defend Real Madrid," Parames is quoted as saying on Ansa.it.

The Portuguese tactician took part in the fracas in the closing stages of Barcelona's 3-2 win at the Camp Nou, pushing his finger into the eye of Barcelona assistant coach Tito Vilanova.

Mourinho's actions were met by a storm of criticism from senior football figures in Spain, but he does not appear remorseful. On Saturday Marca.com reported the former Inter and Chelsea man was ready to apologize, but his spokesman has suggested anything but.

The spokesman also added Mourinho was provoked following "verbal aggressions" towards him from the Barcelona bench.
