Spain coach Vicente del Bosque denies he selectedBarcelona midfielder Thiago Alcantara this week just to cap him.
Thiago also qualifies for Brazil through his World Cup winning father Mazinho.
"Thiago has the option of choosing which team he wants to play for," del Bosque told Marca. ''He is in the squad due to sporting merit.
"We do not look at the status of each player, we look at their quality. Right now, I've got a lot of confidence in the likes of Thiago."
