Tottenham put together package to beat Barcelona for Internacional striker Leandro Damiao

Tottenham remain determined to land Internacional striker Leandro Damiao.

The People says Spurs made two bids before the start of this season to try to get a deal tied up for less than £15million – but they were rejected and since then the player has signed a new contract.

As a result Luis Anapa, vice-president of Brazilian team Internacional is insisting the forward will not be allowed to leave for less than his staggering £44m release clause.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp will not pay that, but is putting together an incentive-based plan to get him for a lower initial fee – and beat off interest from other clubs, including Barcelona.
