'Zlatan Ibrahimovic was a little bit afraid of going to Camp Nou,' says former Barcelona & AC Milan defender Francesco Coco

The retired defender believes the Swede pulled out of the game because of fear, while labelling the Catalan club as the strongest team in the world

Ibrahimovic was afraid of Barcelona return

Former AC Milan and Barcelona defender Francesco Coco claims it was fear which preventedZlatan Ibrahimovic from playing against the Liga titans in the Champions League on Tuesday.

The Serie A champions' preparation for the clash was hindered by news that both Ibrahimovic and Robinho had sustained minor knocks in training.

The striker joined AC Milan from Barcelona in the summer of 2010 after failing to justify the €66 million which the Spanish club had splashed out for him the year before.

And Coco, who played at Milan from 1995 to 2002, spending the last year of that period on loan at Barcelona, said it was fear, and not injury, which made the Swede miss Tuesday's clash, which ended in a 2-2 draw.

"Ibrahimovic was a little bit afraid of going to the Camp Nou," Coco told Catalunya Radio.

The former Italy international also praised Barcelona's current crop, comparing it to the Milan team who won two Champions League crowns in 1989 and 1990.

"The current Barca team is like Arrigo Sacchi's Milan: the strongest team in the world," he said.
