Eric Abidal could be on his way out of Barcelona at the end of the season, and AC Milan are said to have shown an interest in signing the experienced defender, L'Equipe reports.

The 32-year-old's contract with the Camp Nou side expires in the summer of 2012, but he is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal and the Serie A giants are closely monitoring the Frenchman's situation as a result.

Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri is eager to add more experience to his defence and sees Abidal as the perfect signing, particularly with there being a chance that Alessandro Nesta could hang up his boots at the end of the 2011-12 campaign.

Abidal has previously been linked with Paris Saint-Germain, and the Ligue 1 big spenders are still hopeful of luring him back to his native country.

The left-back joined Barcelona from Olympique Lyonnais in the summer of 2007 and has since made over 100 official appearances for the Champions League holders.
