Valencia - Barcelona: Cesc Fabregas

Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas will be sidelined for the next three weeks after pulling a hamstring in training on Saturday, the club have revealed on their official website.

Barca's summer signing has been in fine form since joining from Arsenal in the summer, netting in four of the first five league games for the Catalan club.

But the 24-year-old suffered a hamstring strain in his right leg at training on Saturday and will miss Barca's trip to Sporting Gijon in the Primera Division on Sunday.

Fabregas will be sidelined for Spain's games against Czech Republic and Scotland, while he is also set to miss Barca's next two fixtures, at home to Racing Santander in La Liga and the Camp Nou clash versus Viktoria Plzen in the Champions League.

Cesc joins Andres Iniesta, Alexis Sanchez and Ibrahim Afellay on the sidelines, but coach Pep Guardiola has defenders Carles Puyol and Gerard Pique available again after injury.

"Can't wait to start working on recovery, to be back as soon as possible," Fabregas tweeted later on Saturday.

"Luckily it's not serious. Keep you updated. Have a nice Saturday!"
