Lionel Messi was delighted after Barcelona kicked off their title defence with a 5-0 whitewash of Villarreal.
Messi struck twice in the romp.
"We knew this would be a tough match, we started strongly and never looked back," said Messi. "This is the way we must always play."
Thiago Alcantara also scored and said: "I am excited about the goals and the team's work. I must congratulate everyone for the work they have done. We have to continue like this.
"It was an almost perfect match. A very important game in all aspects."
